COMMUNITY-BASED FACULTY TEACHING RESOURCES

The following sites are web based community-based faculty teaching resources. Check them out!! Any feedback would be appreciated.

1.  The University of Kentucky (UK), College of Pharmacy Preceptor Orientation Training.  The Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) released new accreditation standards for Colleges of Pharmacy effective July, 2007.  As part of the new standards, all preceptors participating in the clinical education of UK pharmacy students MUST receive orientation and training.  The UK College of Pharmacy Office of Experiential Education developed an online preceptor orientation program, approved for 1 hour of continuing education credit, in our efforts to meet the new standards.  You may access this program at http://www.cecentral.com/activity/397.

2.  The University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center, Family Practice Preceptor Development Web Site.  This Web Site was developed by the University of Kentucky’s Department of Family Practice.  The Web Site is intended to act as a resource for community-based physicians wishing to make the transition from physician to physician-educator. Seven instructional modules are presented that cover a variety of educational topics. This site has several topics of interest and value to all health care professional preceptors.

3.  The University of North Carolina's "Expert Preceptor Interactive Curriculum". This site is designed as a faculty development curriculum in clinical teaching for community practitioners. Use the word "guest" as the log-on and password.
