- for runny nose and/or cough: 0.5 to 1 mg / kg q6-8h
- not to exceed 300mg / day

General Information
MOA: antagonizing agents that compete for histamine receptor sights. Histamines are released from lysed cells and cause nasal vasodilation that leads to congestion and runny nose. Also, possesses anti-tussive effects.
WARNING:
- Use with caution in children with acute or chronic respiratory impairment .
- Use with caution if history of thyroid or heart disease or diabetes.
- Do not use in children with history of hypersensitivity.
Adverse Reactions/Side Effects
Decreased mental alertness, hyperactivity, drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth/nose.
Natural Products or Nutritional Interactions (if applicable)
May be taken with food or milk if GI upset occurs. |
