Pediatric Dosing Guidelines

  • best dosed mg/kg basis
  • under 2yrs: 3mg/kg/dose
  • 2 to 6yrs: 3mg/kg/dose q4h not to exceed 600mg per day

  • 6 to 12 yrs: 3mg/kg/dose q4h not to exceed 1.2g per day
  • over 12 yrs: 3mg/kg/dose q4h not to exceed 2.4g per day

General Information

Helps loosen phlegm(mucus) and thin bronchial secretions to make coughs more productive.

MOA: enhance output of respiratory tract fluid by reducing adhesiveness and surface tension facilitating the removal of viscous mucus

  • Do not take for chronic cough (as in asthma).
  • If cough persists for more than 1 week or rash or fever ensue…. call physician ASAP.

*Water and juice are just as effective in increasing productivity of coughs in children.
