Triage Questions About Treatment or Related Issues

How long has the condition been present? Have you tried anything else? If so, what have you tried? Is the rash secluded to the diaper area or is it present elsewhere?

 General Information

When applied to the skin, hydrocortisone diffuses across the cell membrane to interact with receptors in the cell. It appears to induce phospholipase A2 inhibitory proteins, thus depressing formation, release, and activity or endogenous mediators of inflammation (prostaglandins, kinins, histamine, etc). Also, inhibits migration of macrophages and leukocytes to affected area by reversing vascular dilation and permeability.
