Triage Questions About Treatment or Related Issues
Have you ever used any other forms of contraception? Are you or your partner currently using any other forms of contraception? Are you or your partner taking any medications or using any vaginal products? Do you or your partner have any known allergies (i.e. Nonoxynol-9, lubricants, latex, etc.)? Which types of condoms have you previously used? Which type of condom do you or your partner prefer?
General Information
This product is spermicidally lubricated. Spermicides work by two different mechanisms: the creation of a barrier that prevents the sperm from reaching the cervix and destruction of the sperm by denaturing the lipid portions of the midpiece and tail, rendering the sperm nonmotile. It will help prevent the spread of HIV and other STDs as well as help prevent pregnancy. If additional lubrication is required, may use either oil-based or water-based lubricants. Store condoms in a cool, dry place (not in a wallet or glove box). Always check the expiration date on product. Condoms are not 100% effective against pregnancy, HIV, or STDs. Nonvaginal use can increase the potential of slipping or being damaged. If the female is using any vaginal products for medical purposes, the condom may be weakened and effectiveness reduced. Wash hands, penis, vagina, and surrounding areas before and after intercourse to help prevent infection. Male condoms have a 13% failure rate.
