- What symptoms is the patient experiencing?
- How long has the patient had these symptoms?
- Is the patient currently taking any prescription or OTC medications?
- Does the patient have any medical conditions such as diabetes or kidney disease?
General Information
- MOA: Antacids neutralize the gastric acidity, causing an increase in the pH of the
- stomach and duodenal bulb. They also increase the lower esophageal sphincter tone to help with acid reflux. The simethicone is included to get rid of flatulence.
- This medication is an antacid combination used to relieve indigestion, heartburn, flatulence, acid reflux, and peptic ulcers caused by stomach acid.
- Do not use the maximum dosage of the product for more than two weeks, except under the advice/supervision of a physician.
- The suspension may be kept in the refrigerator to help the taste, but do not freeze.
- Pregnant women should consult a physician before using.
- Prohibited under the age of 2 (may cause intestinal perforation.)
- Use caution with children under the age of 6.
- Shake suspension well before using.
- Do not use without the consult of a physician if you have kidney disease.
Adverse Reactions/Side Effects
- Can interfere with the absorption of Salicylates, Tetracyclines, Benzodiazepines, Flouoroquinolones and Corticosteroids along with other medications.
- Can increase the pharmacologic effects of Quinidine and Sulfonylureas.
- Consult with the pharmacist before using along with any prescription medication.
- May bind dietary phosphates, and lead to hypophosphatemia which can lead to anorexia and muscle weakness.
- May lead to the formation of kidney stones.
- Can lead to dependent rebound hyperactivity and milk-alkali syndrome.
