Adult Dosing Guidelines

  • Chew 2-4 tablets as symptoms occur. Repeat hourly if symptoms return or as directed by physcian

General Information

MOA: Rolaids consists of calcium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide. These compounds are basic in nature and neutralize the stomach acid.

CaCO3 + HCl (gastric acid) à CaCl2 + H2O + CO2

Mg(OH)2 + HCl à MgCl2 + H2O

Warning keep this product out of the reach of children.

Do not take more than 12 tablets in a 24 hour period.

Patient should not take the maximum dose for more than 2 weeks unless under the supervision of a physician


Adverse Reactions/Side Effects
Magnesium may cause diarrhea.

May interact with some antibiotics decresing the sbsorption of the antibiotic examples: tetracyclines, azithromycin, and fluoroquinolones

May interact with histamine H2 antagonist
