General Information Menthol is either extracted from peppermint oil or prepared synthetically. It is thought to exert it’s action by depressing cutaneous receptors and providing a cooling effect. In higher doses, menthol can act as a counterirritant. The fatal dose of menthol for humans is thought to be approximately 2 grams. A persistent cough may be a sign of a serious condition. Consult a doctor promptly if symptoms persist for more than one week or are accompanied by fever, rash or persistent headache. A severe or persistent sore throat may be a sign of a serious condition. Consult a doctor promptly if symptoms persist for more than 2 days or are accompanied by fever, rash or persistent headache, swelling, nausea or vomiting. In diabetic patients, Halls Sugar Free Cough Suppressant Drops are a good alternative. KEEP THIS AND ALL DRUGS OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN.
