Triage Questions About Treatment or Related Issues Robitussin is used to treat nonproductive coughing and chest congestion due to the common cold, infection, or allergies. Drink extra fluids during use to help relieve chest congestion. To ensure proper dosing, measure the liquid with a special dosing cup or spoon, not with a regular teaspoon. If cough worsens, lasts more than a week, or is accompanied by fever, rash or persistent headache, consult your physician. Do not use for continual cough due to smoking, asthma, or emphysema, or when cough has excessive mucus. Do not use in children under 2 years of age. Do not use if you are sensitive to guaifenesin. If pregnant, consult your physician or pharmacist.
General Information Guaifenesin is an expectorant that loosens phlegm and increases the lubrication of your lungs allowing for a productive cough and decreased congestion of the chest. This product contains 3.5% alcohol. |
