Dosage Forms: Capsules: Acetominophen 500 mg, Chlorpheniramine maleate 2 mg, Pseudoephedrine HCl 30 mg. Other dosage forms available are Tablets, Gelcaps, and Geltabs; all of these dosage forms contain the same amount of each active ingredient. Adult Dosing Guidelines: For temporary relief of nasal congestion, sinus congestion and pressure, sinus pain, headache, runny nose, sneezing, itching of nose or throat, itchy or water eyes due to hay fever or other upper respiratory allergies. Take two capsules (tablets, gelcaps, geltabs) every 4-6 hours. Do not exceed more than 8 capsules (tablets, gelcaps, geltabs) in 24 hours, or as directed by a doctor. Pediatric Dosing Guidelines: This is an adult product and should not be given to children under the age of 12. This product will provide more than the recommended dose and could cause serious health problems. Triage Questions About Treatment or Related Issues:
General Information: Acetaminophen provides pain relief by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in the CNS and through a peripheral action by blocking pain impulse generation and should provide relief within 30-60 minutes. Chlorpheniramine maleate provides a drying action by antagonizing H-1(histamine) receptors in the peripheral tissues and should provide relief within 30-60 minutes. Pseudoephedrine HCl provides decongestant relief by stimulating alpha-1-adrenergic receptors in smooth muscle causing vasoconstriction and provide relief within 30-60 minutes. If symptoms persist more than 3 days, patient should consult physician. Patient should not take the product if they have respiratory problems, glaucoma, enlarged prostate gland, heart disease, high blood pressure, thyroid disease, or diabetes unless directed by a doctor. Patient should not use this product if they are taking a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI), have psychiatric or emotional problems or Parkinson's Disease.
