Dosage Forms (McNeil)

  • Drops or Suspension 80mg/0.8ml concentration, usually packaged in 15ml dropper bottles with graduated droppers. Available in Cherry & Grape Flavors.

 

Adult Dosing Guidelines

  • Not applicable, refer to adult Tylenol monograph.

Pediatric Dosing Guidelines

24-35 2-3 2 dropperfuls (2x0.8ml=160mg)

Doses may be given every 4-6 hours

**Accepted guidelines recommend 10-15mg/Kg every 4-6 hours

General Information

The site and mechanism of the analgesic effect is unclear. Acetaminophen reduces fever by direct action on the hypothalamic heat regulatory centers. The antipyretic & analgesic effect of Acetaminophen & aspirin are comparable and acetaminophen doesn’t pose a risk for Reye’s Syndrome.

Adverse Reactions/Side Effects
Do not exceed recommended dosage due to risk of serious liver damage

Do not use for more than 5 days because severe or recurrent pain or high or continued fever may indicate a serious illness.
