Dosage Forms (Bayer)

Liquid: Phenol 4.7%, Camphor 10.8% in mineral oil
Gel: Phenol 4.7%, Camphor 10.8% in mineral oil

 Adult Dosing Guidelines

• For management of pain and itching of insect bites, minor burns, and scrapes
• Liquid or Gel: Apply with cotton 1 to 3 times daily.

• Same as adult. Avoid use in children less than 2 years of age.

Does the patient’s skin have one or more areas of inflammation or erythema?

Does the patient know what insect may have caused the bite?

Is there any necrosis or dead skin around the bite?

Does the patient have any allergies or sensitive skin that would prohibit the use of an external product?

Is the bite on an area of skin where some external products should be avoided (i.e. Face, pubic area)?

Camphorated phenol is a first-aid antiseptic that can relieve pain and itching. Phenol has the ability to depress cutaneous receptors, while camphor acts as a counterirritant to produce a cooling sensation to mask any pain or itching. This product is for external use only. Do not apply bandages or an occlusive dressing with this product to prevent any severe skin irritation. Eye contact should be avoided, but if it occurs rinse eyes out immediately. If the condition worsens, persists for more than 7 days, or clears up and occurs again, consult a physician.


Adverse Reactions/Side Effects
This product may cause a rash or blistering. If rash occurs, wash product off of skin and discontinue use.
