Triage Questions About Treatment or Related Issues

Are you allergic to bentoquatum?

Have you already been exposed to poison ivy, poison oak or sumac?

Are you exhibiting a rash from any of the above plants?

General Information

Ivy Blockâ provides a barrier to the allergenic oil, urushiol, found in poison ivy, poison oak and sumac. Therefore this product should only be used if the patient has not yet been exposed to the plant and is not suffering from a rash due to the urushiol. Product should be applied at least 15 minutes before possible contact with any of the plants. Shake the bottle before each use. Rub enough lotion on exposed skin to leave a smooth wet film, this product will then dry rather quickly. A visible coating indicates where the skin is protected. Once the possibility of exposure ceases, Ivy Blockâ should be removed using soap and water.

Adverse Reactions/Side Effects
This product may cause erythema or abnormal flushing of the skin caused by dilation of the blood capillaries. This is possible, but very rare. Another known side effect is skin irritation caused by the alcohol in the lotion.
