Charles T. Lesshafft Jr., Ph.D.
Dr. Charles Lesshafft began his career with the College of
Pharmacy in 1947, when the institution was the Louisville
College of Pharmacy. He achieved the rank of full professor in
1966 and taught in the areas of pharmaceutical calculations,
modern therapeutic agents and pharmaceutical dispensing. He
retired from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy in
1983.
Dr. Lesshafft was born in 1918 in
Louisville and received his bachelor of science degree from
the University of Kentucky in 1941. He earned both his
master's and Ph.D. from Purdue University, in 1953 and 1955,
respectively.
He is a recipient of the Lederle
Pharmacy Award and has been a member of the American
Pharmaceutical Association (APhA), Academy of Pharmaceutical
Sciences Section on Pharmaceutical Technology and Basic
Pharmaceutics, Conference of Teachers of the American
Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, Kentucky Pharmacists
Association (KPhA), Blue Grass Pharmacists Association,
Society of Sigma Xi, Phi Lambda Upsilon Honorary Chemical
Society, and Rho Chi Honor Society.
