Crooks to be Recognized as AAPS Fellow
(Aug. 28, 2002) – Peter A. Crooks, professor in the Division of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy, has been elected to Fellowship status in the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS).
Crooks will be formally recognized at an awards ceremony on Nov. 10, during the Opening Session of the AAPS Annual Meeting in Toronto.
The American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), founded in 1986, is an individual membership society composed of pharmaceutical scientists who have joined together to serve both society and their own common professional interests. The Association has more than 11,000 members worldwide.
Dr. Crooks joined the faculty of the College of Pharmacy in 1981. He is a member of the Markey Cancer Center, affiliate of the Sanders-Brown Center on Aging, a faculty associate in the Center for Membrane Sciences, and holds a joint faculty appointment in the Graduate Center for Toxicology.
He has graduated 20 Ph.D. students and eight M.S. students from his laboratory, and has trained 32 postdoctoral fellows. Dr. Crooks is author of more than 500 research articles and symposium abstracts, and over 60 patents. He also is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and a Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain.
