BRADLEY ANDERSON, Ph.D., NAMED FIRST KOSTENBAUDER
PROFESSOR
Bradley Anderson, Ph.D., was named the first H.B. Kostenbauder
Professor
in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Kentucky College of
Pharmacy and began his duties as director of the college's
Division of Pharmaceutical Sciences on March 1, 2000.
Dr. Anderson is
the recipient of the 1998 Ebert Prize from the Journal of
Pharmaceutical Sciences. He serves on the Executive Council of the
American
Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists and recently served as chair of
the
National Institutes of Health Pharmacology Study Section. Prior to
coming to Kentucky he was a professor in the Department of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical
Chemistry at the College of Pharmacy of the University of Utah.
Dr. Anderson is an
internationally known researcher and scholar and is the
recipient of over $4.5 million in research awards, fellowships and
extramural grants
since 1990. He holds six patents. Ongoing research projects include Permeabilities in Lipid Bilayer Membranes, Enzyme-based Strategies for
CNS Delivery of AIDS Drugs, Drug Decomposition in the Amorphous Solid-State, and Development of
Dosage Forms and Delivery Systems for Agents useful in the Treatment of AIDS and Cancer.

The H.B.
Kostenbauder Professorship in Pharmaceutical Sciences was established in
1999 through the Gill Foundation, in association with the Commonwealth
of Kentucky Research Challenge Trust Fund. The professorship recognizes
the many contributions of Dr. Harry B. Kostenbauder during his 24 years
of outstanding service to the graduate, research and educational
programs of the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy.
