Pharmacists Provide Answers During Annual Call-In Show |

LEXINGTON, KY (Jan. 14, 2002) -- Questions from nearly 400 viewers were received during the annual live call-in program, “Ask the Pharmacist,” sponsored by the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy which aired Jan. 12, on WKYT-TV in Lexington and WYMT-TV in Hazard and Jan. 20, on KET.
“Ask the Pharmacist” has proven to be a popular community service program with panelists providing information on topics from common drug interactions to the latest prescription medications treating AIDS and other diseases. The show also increases awareness of the role of pharmacists in providing information about prescription and over-the-counter medications.

This year’s panel included Kelly Smith, Pharm.D., associate clinical professor in the UK College of Pharmacy and director of the UK Drug Information Center; Holly Divine, Pharm.D., assistant professor and community residency coordinator at the UK College of Pharmacy; Donnie Riley, president of the Kentucky Pharmacist Association and community pharmacist from Bowling Green, Ky.; and Jeff Akers, Pharm.D., health systems director at Appalachian Regional Healthcare Center in Hazard.
The moderator for the show was Jerry Sander, WKYT-TV health reporter.
