Patrol

The University of Kentucky Police Department Patrol unit provides police services to the University community 24 hours a day 365 days of the year. The patrol unit is staffed by highly trained men and women who have all graduated from the Department of Criminal Justice Training (police academy) and meet all of Kentucky’s police standards as established by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council. In addition to the required 600 hours of basic academy training, each officer completes at a minimum, 40 hours of annual in-service training; as well as additional in-house and specialized training.

The patrol unit utilizes automobiles, bicycles, motorcycles, and foot patrols to cover all of the University of Kentucky’s property and roads.
