Police Reports

Copies of complaint and offense reports, as well as accident reports, may be obtained in person or by mail. Copies of traffic or arrest citations must be picked up at the Fayette County District Court Building located at 140 N. Martin Luther King Blvd.

TO OBTAIN IN PERSON, valid picture identification must be presented. Please also be prepared to provide the Central Records personnel with the case report number (if provided by the officer), name of the complainant, type of offense, and date of the report. If you are requesting a traffic collision report, please be prepared to provide the case report number, the name of the driver/owner, location of collision, and date of collision.

TO OBTAIN BY MAIL, a letter of request with the above listed information must be mailed along with a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the address that is listed above.

Reports will only be released to complainants, victims, owners of involved property, authorized insurance agents, parents of involved juveniles, and company/university representatives.

Any information that may jeopardize the effective prosecution of a case will not be released without prior approval of the prosecuting attorney's office. Parties that do not meet the qualifications for release of information will be referred to the University of Kentucky Legal Office for the proper filing of a Open Records Request.
