ARMED ROBBERY/KIDNAPPING
March 24, 2008
At approximately 3:00 pm today University of Kentucky Police were notified of a robbery at Greg Page Apartments that took place sometime between 2 and 3pm. Two men entered the apartment of a Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC) student. They were armed with a knife and miniature baseball bat. They took cash and a Dell laptop, carrying them away in a light blue pillowcase. They also forced the resident to drive them to a local bank to obtain more cash.
Suspect descriptions are as follows:
Suspect #1: Black male, 6’4” tall, medium complexion, light build. He was last seen wearing a navy blue face mask, black zip-up hoodie and light grey fleece pants. He was armed with a knife and last seen in the area of Parking Structure #2 and K-Lair Grill on Hilltop Avenue.
Suspect #2: Black male, 6’ tall, medium complexion, medium build, mustache. He was last seen wearing a black Carhart type jacket with a hood and black or dark-colored pants. He was armed with a miniature baseball bat and implied that he had a gun. He was last seen in the area of University Drive and Huguelet Avenue.

Assault at Lexington Theological Seminary. Lexington Police are investigating the report of an assault that occurred around 8:00 PM on Tuesday, February 19 at the Lexington Theological Seminary.
According to police, a man attacked a woman inside of the seminary with a knife and attempted to tear off her clothing. She managed to escape but the suspect has not been captured.
The suspect is described as a male with a dark complexion, approximately 6' tall. He was possibly wearing a stocking cap over his face.
The Lexington Theological Seminary is across S. Limestone from the UK College of Law.

Terroristic Threatening and
Wanton Endangerment

On Wednesday, February 06, 2008, UK Police were dispatched to Greg Page Apartment Complex for a report of terroristic threatening and wanton endangerment involving a gun with shots fired. The male victim and witnesses advised that three black males and a black female arrived at the front door of the victim’s apartment. One black male showed a gun and the victim closed his door. Two shots were heard by witnesses in the area. No one was injured. All three suspects fled the area in a black passenger car.
The suspects are described as follows:
Suspect 1: Black male, 18-19 years old with shoulder-length black hair. Last seen wearing red hoodie, black pants, armed with black handgun. Suspect discharged two shots outside apartment.
Suspect 2: Black male, 18-19 years old with black goatee. Last seen wearing black shirt and black pants.
Suspect 3: Black male, 18-19 years old. Last seen wearing tight blue shirt and black pants.
UK Police have reason to believe this incident is related to an earlier altercation involving the male victim and the black female that arrived at the door.

UK officials were informed today that the Lexington Division of Police is investigating a rape reported to have occurred at 410 Rose Lane on Sunday, January 13, 2008 between the hours of 1:30 and 4:00 am.

ROBBERY
October 30, 2007
At approximately 2:50 a.m., a male student reported to UK Police that he had been robbed at the corner of University Dr. and Complex Dr. The victim stated that he walked passed three males standing in the area and was struck from behind and knocked to the ground. Victim stated that one suspect implied they had weapons and demanded his valuables. He turned over his wallet and cell phone. The suspects then fled east bound on Complex Dr. in a small to mid-sized SUV.
All three suspects are male; two are believed to be African American, a description of the third is unknown.

On Monday, October 08, 2007, a female student notified UK Police that she had been assaulted by an unknown male while walking on the sidewalk along Huguelet Drive in the early morning hours around 4 a.m. The victim filed a report with UK police at 6:48 p.m.. She advised police that her assailant sprayed her in the face with an unknown substance believed to possibly have been pepper spray then grabbed her forcing her to the ground where she was struck in the face twice before the assailant fled. The only description the victim could provide is that her assailant was about 5’11” wearing a t-shirt and shorts with hairy arms and legs.

On Saturday, September 15, 2007 a female student reported to University of Kentucky Police that an unknown suspect attempted to sexually assault her behind the Lancaster Aquatic Center at 416 Complex Drive. The attempted sexual assault occurred around 7:30 p.m. and involved an unknown suspect.
The suspect is described as a white male, 6’5” to 6’6”, very thin build, possibly 175-180 pounds with short brown hair, pale complexion, with a little bit of stubble to his beard. The subject was wearing black shorts, red t-shirt, and white tennis shoes with black stripes.

SEXUAL ASSAULT

On Sunday, July 15, 2007 two females reported to Lexington Police that they had been sexually assaulted in a parking lot just off of Scott Street. The sexual assault occurred between 1:45 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. and involved an unknown suspect.
The suspect is described as a white male, 5’7”, with short hair, possibly shaved. He was wearing a black hat, black shirt and khaki shorts. The suspect implied he had a weapon.

ATTEMPTED KIDNAPPING
The University of Kentucky Police Department is investigating an attempted kidnapping of a minor. The incident occurred on Tuesday, June 19, 2007, between 5:45 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at Shawneetown Apartments, 1608 University Court.
The suspect is described as a black male in his 50’s, 5’9”, with short black hair, a mustache and goatee. He was wearing black glasses and a short-sleeved white shirt with light blue stripes. He was driving a purple, 4-door car.
Anyone with information concerning this incident is encouraged to contact the UK Police Department at 257-1616.

11/28/2006
On Tuesday, November 28, 2006, at approximately 2:30 a.m., patrol officers from the Lexington Division of Police were dispatched to the 200 block of Conn Terrance in reference to a sexual assault. It was reported that an unknown male subject unlawfully entered the residence through a window and sexually assaulted a 23 year old female victim. The suspect stole a computer and other personal items as he fled the residence. No further suspect description was provided.
Lexington Police believe that the sexual assault may be connected to a sexual assault that occurred at a residence in the 200 block of University Avenue on October 20, 2006. On that occasion, a male black suspect unlawfully entered a residence and sexually assaulted a 20 year old female victim. The University Avenue suspect is further described as a male black in his early 20’s, approximately 5’5”, 140 pounds, dark complexion.

Within the past week, two female students have reported to police that they had been sexually assaulted or abused while at the Sigma Pi Fraternity, located at 364 Aylesford Place. The sexual abuse case involved a known suspect while the sexual assault suspect is unknown.
The unknown suspect is described as a white male, 5’6-5’7, thin build, with shaggy, dirty blonde-brown hair.
Students are encouraged to use caution when attending parties or events.

The University of Kentucky Police Department is investigating two reports of indecent exposure within the W.T. Young Library. A male subject, with a similar description in both incidents, has been reported to have exposed himself to female library patrons.
The unknown suspect is described as a white male, 18 – 22 years old, 5’8 – 6’0, thin to medium build, with blonde/dirty blonde hair.

Recently the University of Kentucky Police Department has been investigating an increased number of thefts of wallets, purses, backpacks, and items from purses and backpacks such as cell phones.
These thefts have occurred at various locations on campus and have included offices, classrooms, locker rooms, athletic facilities, and patient treatment areas.
A possible suspect has been identified in several of these thefts. He is described as a black male, approximately 5'10, heavy build, late 30's to early 40's, with short grey and black hair, and wears large eye glasses with gold trim.

A male victim reported that at approximately 11:52 PM on September 7th he had been robbed at gunpoint while sitting in his vehicle in the Commonwealth Stadium Green Lot directly in front of Oswald Building. Victim advised that the suspect approached him and demanded his money, wallet, and car keys. The suspect then fled on foot toward Nutter Training Center and was seen entering a dark colored Volvo station wagon with a broken taillight.
Suspect is described as follows:
Suspect: Male, White, 5’10, black hair, last seen wearing black t-shirt, a black toboggan, and khaki pants.
Until the suspect is apprehended, take the following precautions to protect yourself:
1. After dark, DO NOT travel alone. Use the campus bus service or the SGA Escort Service. Call the UK Police if these services are not available.
2. Travel on well-lighted main thoroughfares with lots of pedestrian and motor vehicle traffic.

Sometime between 7:00 PM on April 28 and 8:27 AM on April 29, a person or persons set fire to objects at the front door of an apartment at Greg Page apartments. UK Police are investigating this offense as Arson, 1St degree.

On March 29, 2005, between the hours of 5:55 P.M and 7:20 P.M., the University of Kentucky Police Department, UK Hospital & Medical Center Security, and the Lexington Fire Department responded to two incidents of suspicious fires within the Kentucky Clinic.
The first incident involved a trash can and the second involved a towel dispenser. Both incidents were minor in nature and the fire was contained to the described units.

On February 9, 2005 a female student reported to Lexington Police that she had been attacked and sexually assaulted while jogging. This attack occurred in a parking lot in the area of Stone Avenue between 7:00 and 7:30 A.M.
The unknown suspect is described as a white male in his mid-20’s - 30’s, 5’8, medium build, with brown hair, and a stubble beard. He was further described to have had bad dental hygiene and to have smelled of alcohol and cigarettes. He was wearing blue jeans and a sweat shirt.

ALERT
On Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at approximately 5:40 p.m., a juvenile visitor to the UK Chandler Medical Center reported he was resting in the courtyard adjacent to the College of Dentistry when an unknown male grabbed him by the arm and would not let go. The victim was able to free himself from the grip of the suspect and immediately ran from the area.
The suspect is described as a white male in his mid thirties, 5’9” tall with a medium build and brown hair. He was wearing blue jean shorts, a blue shirt and a white ball cap.

Case Closed by Arrest
On April 29, 2004, a female student reported that she had been sexually assaulted at knife point, at approximately 2:00 A.M., in the Hilltop Avenue parking lot of the W.T. Young Library.
The unknown suspect is a male in his early 30’s, 5’10” to 6’1”, 180 pounds, with a thin build. He had brown collar length hair that was spiked on the top. He was wearing a black Dale Earnhardt t-shirt, with a red number 3 on it, and blue jeans. Suspect was last seen running toward Woodland Avenue from the parking lot.

THIS ALERT HAS BEEN CLOSED BY ARREST

University of Kentucky Police have issued a “Campus Safety Alert” following a report of sexual abuse on campus this afternoon. The incident occurred at about 2:15 p.m. in a stairwell of Parking Structure 5, located on South Limestone, next to Kennedy’s Book Store. A female student was touched on the buttocks by an unknown black male.
The suspect is described as a black male in his mid-20’s, 5’11, with a muscular build. He was last seen wearing white slacks, a turquoise shirt, and white shoes. The suspect has short, cropped hair. UK Police also consider the man to be a suspect in a rash of reported indecent exposure incidents which have occurred on campus in recent weeks.

Armed Robbery
Off Campus
A male victim reported to Lexington Police that he had been the victim of an attempted robbery while using the PNC ATM machine located at 396 Woodland Avenue (University Plaza – corner of Woodland & Euclid). The attempt occurred on Monday, February 16, 2004 at 2:20 AM.
Victim advised that the suspect approached him, demanding money. The victim ran to his car and while attempting to leave the area to a safe location was fired upon but, not harmed, by the suspect.

Armed Robberies
The University of Kentucky campus and surrounding neighborhoods have
seen a significant number of armed robberies since the beginning of
the Spring 2004 semester. While all of these crimes have not been committed
on campus, they have still victimized members of the University community,
specifically students.
Therefore, it is important to the safety and security of the entire University community for you to be aware of these occurrences and the safety precautions you need to take to lessen the chances of you becoming a victim.

Armed Robbery
A male victim reported that he had been robbed in the area of Minerals Industry Building on Wednesday, January 21, 2003 around 7:30 AM . Victim was a UK employee.
Victim advised that the suspect approached him and demanded his wallet. The suspect took an undetermined amount of cash and several identifications from the wallet and then fled west between buildings and toward S. Limestone Street .
Suspect is described as follows:
Suspect: Male, Black, height and weight unknown, last seen wearing a gray toboggan, bubble jacket (unknown color), dark jeans, white shoes. Subject possibly had a mustache.
Suspect was armed with a knife.

Armed Robbery
A female victim reported that she had been robbed in the area of Cooperstown B Building on Sunday, January 11, 2003 around 8:40 PM.
Victim advised that the suspects approached her and demanded her wallet. The suspects took an undetermined amount of cash from the wallet and then fled toward the Shively Baseball Stadium.
Suspects are described as follows:
Suspect 1: Male, White, 5’8, early 20’s, last seen wearing black slacks and a black jacket.
Suspect 2: Male, White, 5’10 – 5’11, slim build, early 20’s, last seen wearing black slacks and a black jacket.
Both Suspects were described to be wearing black stockings over their faces and black bandana’s. One subject was armed with what was described as a baton or club.

December 9, 2003
On December 9, 2003, at approximately 9:00 PM, a female victim was sexually abused near the entrance to Ovid’s Café at the W.T. Young Library. The unknown suspect approached her from the front and grabbed her chest.
The suspect is male in his late 20’s to early 30’s, 6’0” to 6’2”, medium build. He had light brown hair that was combed straight back and was described as having a dark complexion, possibly tanned. He was wearing a cream colored fleece pull-over with some type of print on it and faded blue jeans.
UK Police offer the following safety precautions:

- Always be aware of your surroundings and what other people around you are doing.
- Park only in well lit areas.

Recently the University of Kentucky Police Department has been investigating an increased number of thefts from vehicles in the University’s area parking lots.
During the holiday season it is not uncommon for thieves to victimize students, faculty, staff, as well as, university visitors.
Items taken from the vehicles are; tools, VCR’s, car radios, etc…which can be carried away.
The University of Kentucky Police Department recommends the following precautions for leaving vehicles in University parking areas:
PARK YOUR VEHICLES IN WELL-LIT AND WELL TRAVELED AREAS BY BOTH PEDESTRIANS
AND VEHICLE TRAFFIC.
SECURE YOUR VEHICLE.
ACTIVATE YOUR CAR ALARM, IF YOU HAVE ONE.
REMOVE ALL ITEMS FROM YOUR VEHICLE OR PLACE THEM IN THE TRUNK.
HAVE A LIST OF SERIAL, MAKE, AND MODEL NUMBERS OF ALL ITEMS IN YOUR
VEHICLE.
AT THE END OF THE SEMESTER; PACK YOUR CAR AND LEAVE THE SAME DAY. DO
NOT LEAVE VEHICLE WITH YOUR ITEMS UNATTENDED OVERNIGHT.
IMMEDIATELY REPORT ANY THEFTS OR DAMAGES TO THE POLICE.

University of Kentucky Police have issued a "safety alert" for a suspect in a sexual abuse case reported on the UK campus Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003.
Police say a female UK student was sexually abused in a parking lot at the corner of Woodland Avenue and Columbia Avenue near the William T. Young Library. The unknown suspect approached her from behind while she was walking through the parking lot.
The suspect is male, white, 6'0", approximately 230 pounds, and 20 to 30 years of age. He had short, light brown or blonde hair. He was wearing a red shirt and denim pants. The victim described the subject as being muscular.
"Safety Alert" flyers with the description of the suspect have been distributed in the residence halls on UK's campus. The flyers also provide safety precaution information and a notice that UK Police have increased patrols in the campus area.
Anyone with information is asked to call UK Police at 257-1616.

On June 18, 2003, at 0300 hrs. a female victim was raped near the parking lot behind the Kirwan Complex. The unknown suspect approached her from behind while she was attempting to get into her car. He dragged her into some trees and forcibly raped her.
The suspect is male, of foreign descent, possibly Hispanic, 5’10” to 5’11”, approximately 180 lbs. He had short, dark brown hair that was longer on top. He was wearing a long sleeve black shirt, a link type necklace, possibly gold, and long black pants. The suspect smelled strongly of cologne, and spoke in a foreign language that the victim did not understand. The suspect could possibly have some puncture like injuries to his face.

- Always be aware of your surroundings and what other people around you are doing.
- Park only in well lit areas.
