Sexual Assault

11/28/2006

On Tuesday, November 28, 2006, at approximately 2:30 a.m., patrol officers from the Lexington Division of Police were dispatched to the 200 block of Conn Terrance in reference to a sexual assault. It was reported that an unknown male subject unlawfully entered the residence through a window and sexually assaulted a 23 year old female victim. The suspect stole a computer and other personal items as he fled the residence. No further suspect description was provided.

Lexington Police believe that the sexual assault may be connected to a sexual assault that occurred at a residence in the 200 block of University Avenue on October 20, 2006. On that occasion, a male black suspect unlawfully entered a residence and sexually assaulted a 20 year old female victim. The University Avenue suspect is further described as a male black in his early 20's, approximately 5'5", 140 pounds, dark complexion.

Anyone with information relating to this investigation is asked to please contact the Personal Crimes Section of the Lexington Police at (859) 258-3700 or Bluegrass Crime Stoppers at (859) 253-2020

Sexual Assault

September 29, 2006

Within the past week, two female students have reported to police that they had been sexually assaulted or abused while at the Sigma Pi Fraternity, located at 364 Aylesford Place. The sexual abuse case involved a known suspect while the sexual assault suspect is unknown.
The unknown suspect is described as a white male, 5'6-5'7, thin build, with shaggy, dirty blonde-brown hair.
Students are encouraged to use caution when attending parties or events.
Following these safety precautions can help keep you safe while still having fun:

  • Do not accept drinks or food from persons unknown to you and never leave your drink or food unattended. Someone could easily "spike" these items without your knowledge.
  • Always be aware of your surroundings and what other people around you are doing.
  • If you choose to drink, be responsible! Alcohol clouds decision-making and increases confidence, a combination that often leads to risky situations.
  • Carry a cell phone or other personal safety device.

Anyone with information concerning these incidents or that can possibly assist with identifying the suspect is encouraged to call the UK Police Department.

UK Police offer the following safety precautions:
  • If you see anyone acting suspicious, immediately go to the nearest phone and call 911 or use your cellular phone by dialing #UKPD (#8573).
  • Always be aware of your surroundings and what other people around you are doing.
  • Do not walk to/from parking areas alone; walk with a coworker when possible and use a heavily traveled path (pedestrian/vehicular). If this is not possible, contact UKPD or Library Security for an escort.
  • Have preplanned escape routes should something occur.
  • Carry a cell phone or other personal safety device.
