2013 Crime Bulletins

Burglaries
December 11, 2013

In compliance with the “Timely Notice” provision of the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Police and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998, University of Kentucky Police Department has issued the following Crime Bulletin for the UK Community.
University of Kentucky Police Department is currently investigating reports of four burglaries that are believed to be related.

  • On Thursday, December 5, 2013, at approximately 8 a.m., a cell phone was stolen from a desk in an open, unoccupied office in Kentucky Clinic.
  • On Thursday, December 5, 2013, between 8:30a.m. and 11:30a.m., a laptop, cash, and other items were stolen from an open, unoccupied office in the College of Medicine Building.
  • On Friday, December 6, 2013, at approximately 8 a.m., a tape recorder and a tablet computer were stolen from an open, unoccupied room in the Wethington Allied Health Building.
  • On Friday, December 6, 2013, at approximately 8:45 a.m., a cell phone was stolen from an open, unoccupied office in the Carol Martin Gatton Business & Economics Building.

The suspect in these incidents is described as a male black with a beard, 5’8” – 6’0” tall, approximately 160 lbs, last seen wearing a dark blue knitted hat, blue jeans, a blue shirt, and a black jacket. More information is available on the UK Police Facebook site.

  • Keep valuables out of sight and secured. If you cannot secure the items, carry them with you.
  • Maintain a thorough record of your valuables, to include photographs, serial numbers, makes and models, etc.

SEXUAL ASSAULT
December 8, 2013

In compliance with the “Timely Notice” provision of the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Police and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998, University of Kentucky Police Department has issued the following Crime Bulletin for the UK Community.
On December 8, 2013 at approximately 5:30 p.m., it was reported to the University of Kentucky Police that at approximately 1 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2013, a female student was sexually assaulted by a male student in a residence hall on UK campus.
The complainant reported that the suspect was in the lobby of the residence hall asking female students to use a phone charger. Sometime later she was approached by the suspect outside her room, and he forced her into her room where the assault occurred. She described him as a white male, 20 years old, 5’6” tall, 130 lbs. with short/medium length dirty blond hair and blue eyes, wearing a long sleeve yellow “polo” style shirt and khaki pants.
The University of Kentucky Police has identified the suspect and is continuing to investigate the crime.

SEXUAL ASSAULT

In compliance with the “Timely Notice” provision of the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Police and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998, University of Kentucky Police Department has issued the following Crime Bulletin for the UK Community.
It has been reported that a sexual assault occurred at the top of parking structure three at 140 Huguelet Drive. The complainant reported that she was unsure of the exact time or date of the incident. She also reported that the suspect was known to her. University of Kentucky continues to investigate the reported crime.

ATTEMPTED STRONG-ARM ROBBERY
September 03, 2013

In the interest of safety, the University of Kentucky Police Department has issued the following Crime Bulletin for the UK community.

  • At approximately 1:00 PM on Tuesday, Sept. 3rd, 2013, UK Police received a report regarding an attempted strong-arm robbery that occurred near the intersection of Virginia Ave and Press Ave. The victim was approached by one unknown male subject. The subject reportedly demanded the victim to borrow and then hand over their cell phone and was pushed by the subject when the victim did not comply. The suspect fled the scene and was last seen running east toward campus on Virginia Ave before jumping into the passenger side of a vehicle described as a White Chevy Tahoe. The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s, thin build, approximately 5’10” tall, wearing a graphic white t-shirt and a baseball hat.
