Standardized Performance Analysis
Beef Cow Business Records

Standardized Performance Analysis, known as SPA, is a financial tool developed by Iowa State University. SPA targets both the efficiencies and deficiencies of beef cow-calf enterprises, offering enterprise specific data measuring the financial performances of cow-calf, hay, and pasture enterprises. SPA offers an analysis of "out-of-pocket" expenses and opportunity costs.

How to Get Started with SPA?

SPA is primarily designed to benefit cow-calf producers. The University of Kentucky is currently offering SPA as a free service, with all data entry performed by the University. The SPA program works hand in hand with CHAPS 2000; however, CHAPS is not a requirement. The SPA Financial Workbook can be obtained by contacting:
