Purple coneflower species grow well under Kentucky conditions and can be produced as ornamental plants, cutflowers and as a "medicinal herb". Echinacea purpurea has been most often grown for commercial sale, but other species have not been fully evaluated for their potential for commercial markets. Species being evaluated include E. angustifolia, E. pallida, E. paradoxa, and E. tennessensis.
