WEB SERVER
The main campus web server (www.uky.edu) is operated by the Computing Center and provides World Wide Web services with the Apache web server running under FreeBSD. The server hardware is from ASA Computers and includes four Intel Xeon P3 550 Mhz processors, 2 gigabytes of RAM, and a 144 gigabyte RAID. It was placed in service 3 January 2001, replacing an IBM PC 704.
A userid is not needed for web browsing, but is needed to publish web pages. Please see our Web Providers Information for more details.
The Computing Center has been providing web services since 1993.
