Tenure & Promotion Procedures- Six-Year Policy
[1] Six-year Policy
Tenured Assistant or Associate Professors whose credentials have not been considered for promotion by an Academic Area Advisory Committee for six years are entitled to such review. Eligible faculty must submit this request in writing to the chair by October 1 of the seventh or subsequent year. The chair must prepare a promotion dossier and a recommendation and submit it to the dean. The dean must review the dossier and forward it with a recommendation to the Provost by January 15 of the academic year in which the request is made. The Provost examines the dossier for completeness and forwards it the relevant Academic Area Advisory Committee for review. The Academic Area Advisory Committee must make a recommendation to the Provost. If a faculty member is considered by an Academic Area Advisory Committee for promotion under this option, the provision for such consideration shall not be mandatory until six or more years have passed (AR II-1.0-1, Section III-G.2 promotion review opportunity).
