Dr. Kaveh Tagavi will explain why it is important to be involved in faculty governance: where do you fit in, and why bother? Don’t wait until you are elected to the Senate to learn the names and oversight responsibilities of the councils and committees.

Kaveh A. Tagavi

Kaveh Tagavi was elected and then re-elected chair of the University Senate Council in 2006 and 2007 following three years of service on the Senate Council. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1982. A faculty member at UK since 1985, Kaveh has been involved in the University Senate in one form or another for about 20 years. His academic area of focus is thermal and fluid sciences. He was twice voted teacher of the year by his department’s students, and has served the University in the capacities of Academic Ombud, member of the University level Academic Area Committee, his college’s Faculty Council (elected), and 9 years as his department’s Director of Graduate Studies.
