Ernest J. Yanarella
Ernie Yanarella was elected as the faculty representative to the board in 2006. He was awarded a bachelor's degree from Syracuse University and a doctorate from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. He has been a member of the UK political science faculty since 1970. He is the author of nine books and four dozen journal articles. He is active in the community civic, peace, and justice organizations. He is director of the College of Arts and Sciences Environmental Studies Program and co-director of UK 's Center for Sustainable Cities. Dr. Yanarella has received several awards for teaching and serves as lecturer and advisor for several entities, including the Canadian Embassy, U.S. Military Academy, Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development, Okotoks (Alberta) Municipal Government, and Oakland (California) Mayor's Office.
Jeffrey B. Dembo
Jeffrey Dembo was elected faculty trustee in 2005. He holds a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Pennsylvania and received his professional degree from Northwestern University. He did his residency training at the University of Iowa. A faculty member at UK since 1987, Jeff is a professor of oral and maxillofacial surgery in the College of Dentistry and holds joint appointments in the Departments of Surgery and Anesthesia in the College of Medicine. His academic area of focus is outpatient anesthesia. He was twice voted instructor of the year by his college's students, and has served the University in the capacities of Academic Ombud and Chair of the University Senate Council.
