*Dr. Lynda Brown Wright is Department Chair and Associate Professor in the department of Educational & Counseling Psychology. Dr. Brown Wright holds a PhD in Counseling Psychology from Texas A&M University. She has more than 18 years of formal experience as a multicultural educator at the university level and has served as consultant and workshop facilitator in the areas of diversity, multiculturalism, and social justice for more than 20 years. Her research program has focused on academic and health disparities among African American children and youth. A NIH research award recipient, Dr. Brown Wright has conducted research on cardiovascular disease risk factors among African American children and youth. She is also an UK Commonwealth Collaborative recipient where she is studying mediating indices of school excellence among African Americans children and youth.
