Effective January 2011 the University entered into an exclusive agreement with IKON, a Ricoh Company, for provision of Managed Print Services (MPS). The new contract provides for MPS needs for the entire University including campus-based departments, UK HealthCare Enterprise, and outlying areas. Managed Print Services is a total service package which includes copiers, printers, fax, multi-function and scanning devices. Based on the exclusive nature of the IKON agreement, purchases of the above equipment for University use may no longer be made through the existing providers of computers and related equipment. Purchases of computers, accessories, and peripherals not related to printing or other forms of digital impression can continue to be made through the existing agreements via the E-buy website.
Personal purchases may be made through any of the vendors by contacting them directly.
Departments should execute purchases of toner and supplies based on the following guide:
IKON/Ricoh equipment placed into use and on which departments pay a per-impression charge |
IKON provides all toner and supplies. Equipment is monitored by IKON staff and supplies will be replaced as needed. Departments do not purchase toner or supplies for machines on the core (per-impression charge) MPS program. |

Machine service - The following guidelines should be adhered to regarding service/repairs to machines providing digital impressions:
Dell, Lexmark, or HP equipment purchased and owned by the University prior to January 2011 |
Service for these machines is not governed by contract; departments may use a non-contracted vendor if needed for service/repair needs. |
| Dell, Lexmark, or HP equipment purchased from IKON and owned by the University after January 2011. | IKON provides service for the machine. Machines that are serviced by IKON are identified with an IKON “see blue. print green.” sticker affixed to the unit. Call the service number on the sticker as needed. |
