- Current GPA
- Includes grades from a specific term.
- Cumulative GPA
- Includes grades earned in a specific career. Careers: Undergraduate, Graduate, Law and Pharmacy.
- The GPA is equal to the number of Quality Points (QP) divided by the number of Quality Hours (QH).
- Quality Hours (QH) = total number of hours for courses student received a grade of A, B, C, D or E (including + and - grades).
- Quality Points (QP) = number of credit hours per course multiplied by the value of the grade received. Example values: A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, E=0.
- Courses with grades of P, F, I, S, W, or AU do not figure in GPA calculations.

Student Support Services at the University of Kentucky is a federally funded program designed to provide academic support services to improve academic performance and increase retention and graduation rates of college students who are first generation college students, low income, or have a disability. SSS provides opportunities for participation in study skills development, tutoring, academic planning, personal counseling, peer mentoring, financial aid resource exploration, graduate school preparation, cultural/social activities, and technology readiness.
Eligibility Requirements for SSS
Students must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, and should qualify under one or more of the following categories:
- be a first generation college student (neither parent has a four-year college degree)
- be low income (according to guidelines established by U.S. Department of Education)
- have a documented (physical or learning) disability

CARES offers academic support services and enrichment opportunities that enhance the student's undergraduate
experience. The overall program goals are to increase the retention and graduation rates of students traditionally
underrepresented in post-secondary education, including African American, Latino, and Native American students.
The Center's services and programs include tutoring, study groups, academic planning and monitoring, career
exploration and networking opportunities, personal development workshops, graduate school information and
preparation, the Freshman Summer Program (FSP), a six-week academic enrichment program, and help with
personal issues.
