The transcript must show your date of graduation and final cumulative grade-point average.

Your acceptance letter will include instructions on setting up your myUK account and include instructions confirming your Advising Conference.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO SEND A TUITION DEPOSIT. UK does not require a tuition deposit. You will receive a bill after the semester begins. You'll learn all about tuition, fees, and payment options at your Advising Conference.
Apply for Housing and Choose a Dining Plan.
If you plan to live on campus, you should apply for housing as soon as possible after you receive your acceptance letter. Applying for admission and applying for housing are two separate processes. Usually, beginning freshmen who apply for housing prior to May 1 can be reasonably sure that housing will be available when they enter school the following fall.
Start by visiting the Campus Housing Office site. You can download a housing application (PDF), learn about the different housing options, and find out about all the advantages that living on campus offers.
Do not forget to check out the Living-Learning Communities that UK Housing offers. UK currently offers eleven of these living areas in on-campus housing, including communities for fine arts majors, Honors students, German-language students, and students interested in civic engagement. The Living-Learning Communities at UK offer a great opportunity for students to live among and interact with other students who share their interests.
Housing Deposit
The housing deposit of $50 and rental agreement must accompany the housing application. The deposit, as well as subsequent payments, must be made by mail to:
Office of Student Billing Services
18 Funkhouser Building
University of Kentucky
Lexington, KY 40506-0054
Students requesting a receipt should include a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
Cancellations and Refunds
Applicants must cancel the housing application in person, by fax, by letter, or by e-mail to the University Housing Assignment Office. Students who choose to cancel their Housing and Dining application will be charged:
- No Charge for cancelling prior to May 1
- $50 for cancelling by June 1
- 20 percent of fall housing charges (Traditional Hall Rate) for cancelling by July 1
- 25 percent of fall housing charges (Traditional Hall Rate) for cancelling by August 1
- 50 percent of fall housing charges (Assigned Hall Rate) plus daily prorated usage for cancelling by September 1 - This rate also applies to students who apply for Housing and then never move in to Campus Housing (No Shows).
- Full housing charges (Assigned Hall Rate) for cancelling after September 1
If you plan to live on campus, or if you wish to eat some of your meals on campus, you will find UK's Dining Services plans quite versatile. Students select from one of three dining accounts:
- The Dining Plan is required for all students who live in a residence hall.
- The Flex Account. All students are eligible to put money in a Flex Account, which allows students the flexibility to spend money at any UK Dining Services unit, except Starbucks©
- The Plus Account is optional and extremely versatile.

Set Up Your Email and Computing Accounts.

Apply to the Honors Program.
If you are a highly-motivated student with an outstanding high school or college GPA, be sure to check out the UK Honors Program.
Students who have not yet made their application to the program may do so in their freshman year to begin course work in the first semester of their sophomore year. The Admissions Committee will primarily consider an applicant's writing and first-semester grades in making admissions decisions for currently enrolled students. You can download a pdf version of theHonors Program application.
The deadline for all applicants is January 15.
Apply for a Parking Permit.
If you plan to bring a car to campus, you may want to sign up for a K Permit, which allows you to park at Commonwealth Stadium. You can apply online between June 1 and July 31. Parking permits are issued on a first-come, first-served basis.
Be sure to check out UK's Campus Bus and Shuttle services that offer convenient and timely free transportation for students.
Learn About the University Health Service.
UK's University Health Service provides full-time students with outpatient services that cover many of their basic health needs. Other services are provided on a fee-for-service basis.
The health fee is part of the mandatory registration fee paid by full-time students. Part-time students may elect to pre-pay the health fee to entitle them to receive the same covered benefits as full-time students, or they may use the Health Service on a fee-for-service basis.
Get Your WildCard UK ID.
You can get your WildCard UK identification at the WildCard ID Center, Monday through Friday between 9 A.M. and 5 P.M. The Center is located in 107 Student Center. You'll need to bring a photo ID as well as $15.00, payable with cash, check, Plus Account, Visa, or MasterCard. Your WildCard will not be valid until the beginning of the semester.
Register with the Disability Resource Center.
Students with documented physical, learning, or temporary disabilities may receive assistance and support from the Disability Resource Center. Many students register during their Advising Conference and we recommended that students register early. However, students are welcome to come in and register at any time.
The Disability Resource Center is located in Alumni Gym, Room 2, (859) 257-2754.
Apply for Student Employment.
If you're planning to work a part-time job during the school year, be sure to check out the listings at UK's Student Employment Office. Student Employment has links to job openings both on and off-campus in various fields with assorted skills, pay rates, and flexible schedules.

The University of Kentucky takes great pride in the UK Police Department, a fully accredited police department charged with serving and protecting the University of Kentucky campus and its students, faculty, staff and visitors. The University of Kentucky Police Department has a patrol unit of 35 highly trained men and women, all of whom graduated from the Department of Criminal Justice Training (police academy) and meet all of Kentucky's police standards as established by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council. The Department provides police services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The UK Police Department was awarded state accreditation by the Kentucky Association of Chiefs of Police in January 2006.
UK has launched programs like UKAlert (a text/email/phone emergency notification system), the STARR (selfdefense) Program and the Citizens Police Academy to increase awareness of safety on campus. We also have a campus escort program called SafeCats that provides safe escort or transportation to the UK community on campus and the Cat's Path, a series of recommended walking routes which are well lit and frequently patrolled by UKPD.
In 2008, Reader's Digest ranked the University of Kentucky 4th in overall campus safety. To review the University of Kentucky's latest Annual Campus Safety and Security Report, please visit the UK Police Department's Web site at www.uky.edu/police and click on Clery/Minger Report (right-hand menu bar under Resources).
