Fall 2008 Freshman Summer Advising Conferences / New Student Orientation
All freshman admitted to UK are assigned a two-day advising conference. Your assigned conference date is based on your date of admission to UK. During this conference, you will:
- Meet other freshmen
- Meet your academic advisor and talk about your educational interests and goals
- Take math placement exams (PDF)
- Take other placement exams (PDF)
- Register for your fall semester courses
- Learn about special academic opportunities
- Meet with representatives from Housing, Dining Services, Financial Aid, Computer Services, and many others
- Find out about getting involved in activities and organizations on campus
- Discuss life at UK with current students
- Find out about residence hall life
To Confirm your Summer Advising Conference:
- Step 1: Set up your UK Email address and keep track of your User ID and password
- Step 2: Log in to MyUK
- Step 3: After login is successful, click on blue Student Services Tab
- Step 4: Under the Student Services Tab you will select the Admissions Tab
- Step 5: In the left-hand blue toolbar under Detailed Navigation, click on Advising Conference Registration
- Step 6: At this point a page will come up directing you to select go to either View Conference(s) to Register and click on GO.
- Step 7: This will bring up the list of advising conferences you are eligible to register for. Select your conference and click on the GO or SUBMIT buttons.
To Change the Date of Your Summer Advising Conference:
If you’ve already set up your email account and confirmed your advising conference, you can change your conference date online if needed.
- Step 1: Set up your UK Email address and keep track of your User ID and password
- Step 2: Log in to MyUK
- Step 3: After login is successful, click on blue Student Services Tab
- Step 4: Under the Student Services Tab you will select the Admissions Tab
- Step 5: In the left-hand blue toolbar under Detailed Navigation, click on Advising Conference Registration
- Step 6: At this point a page will come up directing you to select go to either View/Change Registered Conference and click on GO.
- Step 7: This will bring up the list of advising conferences you are eligible to register for. Select your conference and click on the GO or SUBMIT buttons.
* Please Note: If you have a confirmed advising conference date but have not set up your email account, you will have to do so prior to logging in to MyUK.
Before attending your Summer Advising Conference, all students must activate their UK Active Directory and Email accounts. To do so, please consult this document: Information for Confirming Advising Conference and setting up email address. This will walk you through your email activation and if necessary, your advising conference confirmation. Please remember to bring your user ID and password with you to your advising conference as it will be required at the point of registration.

If you are unable to attend a summer conference date, please indicate: "One day Registration, August 25" on the mail-in reply card or by email to: advconf@uky.edu For best course selection all students are encouraged to attend a summer advising conference.

Confirmation Letter/Conference Details
After you confirm your Advising Conference online or by sending email to advconf@uky.edu, you will receive a confirmation letter providing specifics about check-in and other conference details. There is a fee per student to attend the Advising Conference. This fee includes all conference materials and lunch on the first day. This fee will be added to your tuition bill and is not due in advance or at the conference.

Additional details for the conference will be sent out 2 to 3 weeks prior to the conference.
Parents are Invited
Your parents are strongly encouraged to accompany you to your conference. A Parent's Program has been designed to familiarize them with campus and give insights into the kinds of adjustments you and your parents mightexperience during the college years. The majority of our students' parents attend these conferences. There is a fee per guest which includes conference materials and lunch on the first day. This fee will be added to your tuition bill and is not due in advance or at the conference.
