Course and Instructor Information

The Winter Intersession Web-site, at www.uky.edu/Registrar/winter, provides information to assist prospective students in making informed course choices. The Web-site includes course syllabi, course policy statements, and instructor information. Estimated student fees and other expenses associated with travel courses are also posted. Students should review course information at the Winter Intersession Web-site prior to enrolling in Winter Intersession courses.

Admission and Enrollment

Continuing UK students enroll for Winter Intersession during their Spring Semester 2008 registration windows (October 29 — November 20, 2007) or during the Add-Drop period (November 27 — December 17, 2007).

Newly-admitted or visiting students enroll for Winter Intersession on November 16 in conjunction with the Advising Conference. For information on Advising Conferences, call (859) 257-3256. Students may enroll in a non-degree or degree-seeking status.

Calendar

  • October 15, 2007 — Priority deadline for admission to the Winter Intersession
  • October 29 — November 20, 2007 — Priority registration for Winter Intersession
  • November 16, 2007 — Winter Intersession registration for newly-admitted students
  • December 14, 2007 — Deadline for admission to the Winter Intersession
  • December 14, 2007 — Last day a student may drop a course or cancel registration with the University Registrar for a full refund of fees
  • December 17, 2007 — First day of class
  • December 17, 2007 — Last day to add a class for the 2007-2008 Winter Intersession
  • December 17, 2007 — Last day to officially withdraw from the University or reduce course load and receive an 80 percent refund
  • December 19, 2007 — Last day to officially withdraw from the University or reduce course load and receive a 50 percent refund
  • December 19, 2007 — Last day to drop a course without it appearing on the students' transcript
  • December 19, 2007 — Last day to change a grading option (pass/fail to letter grade or letter grade to pass/fail; credit to audit or audit to credit)
  • December 25 — January 1 — Academic Holidays
  • January 2 — Last day to withdraw from the University or reduce course load. Students can withdraw or reduce course load after this date only for urgent non-academic reasons.
  • January 8 — Final Examinations
  • January 8 — End of 2007-2008 Winter Intersession

Tuition and Fees

Umbrella Girls

The rate of tuition for students will be the same per credit hour as Spring 2008 rates. Resident undergraduate students with 59 hours or less will pay $282.43 per credit hour; non-resident students with 59 hours or less will pay $607.43 per credit hour. Resident undergraduate students with 60 hours or more will pay $290.43 per credit hour; non-resident students with 60 hours or more will pay $615.43 per credit hour. Resident graduate students will pay $401.43 per credit hour; non-resident graduate students will pay $873.43 per credit hour.

Fees are subject to change without notice.

Except for travel courses, no registration fees are charged. Courses involving student travel charge fees to cover student travel costs; these travel fees are due well before the start of classes. Travel course fees are handled by the offering academic department and may be non-refundable.

Books

The UK Bookstore, Kennedy Bookstore, Wildcat Textbooks, and eCampus.com carry Winter Intersession books. Copies of their hours immediately preceding and during the Winter Intersession are available in the Summer School/Winter Intersession Office, 10 Funkhouser Building, UK, or by calling (859) 257-8126.

The William T. Young Library is open to Winter Intersession students on the following schedule:

Parking and Shuttle Information

During Winter Intersession, students can park in the R1 and C7 lots without a valid parking permit. R1 is located behind Memorial Coliseum (the large lot on the right side of College View Ave. off Rose St.). The C7 lot is located off Scott Street across from Dickey Hall and the Taylor Education Building. These lots are available to Winter Intersession students Monday, December 17 through Friday, January 4. On Monday, January 7, and Tuesday, January 8, winter intersession students with permits should park in their designated area; those without permits may utilize the C7 lot.

During Winter Intersession, the Summer/Break Route will operate on a 30-minute route around campus between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. The service dates are:

  • Monday, December 17 through Friday, December 21
  • Wednesday, January 2 through Tuesday, January 8

Regular daytime Red, Blue and White Route service will resume Monday, January 7. Service will overlap on January 7 and 8.

Weather-Related and Other Class Cancellations

In the event of severe weather, announcements regarding cancellation of classes will normally be made by 6:00 a.m. through the local media. The most up-to-date and complete information can be obtained from the UK Infoline at (859) 257-5684, UK Cable Channel 16, or the UK Web site.
