Role of the Office of Legal Counsel in the Regulations Process

The Office of Legal Counsel:

  1. Provides guidance and coordinates the process for developing or revising Governing and Administrative Regulations;
  2. Ensures that new regulations and revisions to existing regulations are consistent with other University policy, state and federal law, etc.;
  3. Maintains a history of regulation revisions and official effective dates;
  4. Maintains an archive of retired Governing and Administrative Regulations;
  5. Manages the University's Governing and Administrative Regulations web site and links to other policy pages on the web site;
  6. Communicates new and revised Governing and Administrative Regulations to the University Community in a timely manner; and
  7. Assists, upon request, in the drafting of other University policy.
