Dr. Hennig presented " PCB's, Nutrition, and Endothelial Cell Function: Implications in Atherosclerosis" at NIEHS/NIH Superfund Research Program Distinguished Lectures.

Dr. Hennig was invited to attend a 3-day Stakeholder Community Workshop convened July 12-14, 2011 by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) as part of the process for developing our new strategic plan.  The workshop involved approximately 200 investigators and individuals with a broad base of experience and interest in science, science management, public health, and related fields.  The focus of this workshop was to shape the scientific directions of the NIEHS/NIH for the next 5 years that will have maximal impact on public health.

On Thursday, July 14, 2011, Dr. Hennig was invited by NIEHS/NIH to present a Superfund Research Program Distinguished Lecture entitled “PCBs, Nutrition, and Endothelial Cell Function: Implications in Atherosclerosis”.  The Superfund Research Program, Distinguished Lecturer Series began in May 2002 as a communications initiative to highlight cutting-edge science being conducted by Superfund Research Program investigators.  Dr. Hennig’s seminar was a concurrent event by the NIEHS Division of Extramural Research and Training’s Keystone Lecture Seminar Series. The Keystone seminar series was created to 1) educate NIEHS Division of Extramural Research and Training (DERT) staff about emerging areas of science relevant to the role of environmental agents in disease and dysfunction, 2) provide a forum for highlighting scientific results and products emerging from existing high priority NIEHS programs, and 3) provide opportunity for DERT staff to meet and engage in in-depth discussions with science leaders in key areas.
