Willett Receives First-Place Biomedical Student Poster Award at NIEHS Superfund Research Program Annual Meeting

(November 2010) - Elizabeth Willett, a master's student in the Department of Nutrition and Food Science and an active participant in the UK-SRP Community Outreach Core, received the first place biomedical student poster award at the recent NIEHS Superfund Research Program Annual Meeting, held November 11-12, in Portland, OR

Willett's poster, entitled "Improved Risk Communication through Assessment of Kentucky Citizens' Perception of Environmental Pollutants, Health and Nutrition Behavior", was co-authored by Carolyn Hofe, Limin Feng, and Dr. Lisa Gaetke. The poster was among 43 student biomedical posters and 79 total student posters from SRP programs around the country, including the University of North Carolina, Harvard University, Oregon State University, Michigan State University, Dartmouth College, University of Iowa, Brown University, University of California's Davis, California, and Berkeley campuses, and the University of Arizona. A number of UK-SRP graduate students and postdoctoral scholars also presented posters during the session.

For her work, Willett received a certificate from NIEHS and a monetary award.
