Dr. Hennig Receives Fulbright Award

(Sept. 2008) - UK-SRP Program Director Bernhard Hennig has received a prestigious Fulbright Award to encourage collaborations between the University of Kentucky and the Universidad de Antioquia in Medellin, Colombia. Dr. Hennig will spend four months in Colombia during the spring of 2009, where he will teach a course in nutritional biochemistry and share his research expertise. He hopes that this experience will initiate the development of an official exchange program between academic units of the two universities.

Dr. Hennig is a professor of nutrition and toxicology in the UK College of Agriculture's Department of Animal and Food Sciences with joint appointments in the Center for Nutritional Sciences, the Graduate Center for Toxicology, the Center for Membrane Sciences and the Gill Heart Institute. In addition to his role as UK-SBRP Program Director and core leader of the Administrative Core, Dr. Hennig is the primary investigator for Project 1: Superfund Chemicals, Nutrition, and Endothelial Cell Dysfunction.
