UK-SRP Student Receives SOT Outstanding Graduate Student Award

(March 2011) - Bei Zhang has received the Society of Toxicology's Outstanding Graduate Student Award from the Nanotoxicology Specialty Section. The award recognizes Bei for her research on the relationship between cerebrovascular toxicity and polychlorinated biphenyls. Bei has received graduate student travel support to attend this year's Society of Toxicology Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., where she will present present "Toll-like receptor 4 is involved in the cerebrovascular toxicity of PCB153 bound to nanoparticles", the work for which she is being recognized.

Bei is a Ph.D. student in Dr. Michal Toborek's laboratory, which looks at the vascular mechanisms of PCB-induced brain metastases.
