Dr. Ormsbee Receives 2010 ASCE-EWRI Service to the Profession Award
(May 2010) - Dr. Lindell Ormsbee, UK-SRP Research Translation Core Leader, has received the 2010 Water Resources Planning and Management Service-to-the-Profession
Award from the Environment and Water Resources Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers (EWRI-ASCE).
Since joining the faculty of the University of Kentucky in 1983, Dr. Ormsbee has been actively engaged in research, teaching, and consulting in water resources and
environmental engineering and has published more than 200 technical papers and reports on various topics in this field. Dr. Ormsbee's research interests include:
Mathematical Modeling of Hydraulic and Hydrologic Systems (including both surface and groundwater systems), Water Supply Planning, Watershed Management, Water
Distribution Network Modeling, TMDL Modeling and Methodologies, Operations Research/Systems Analysis, Research Translation, Groundwater Remediation (including
nanotechnologies). Over the last 30 years, Dr. Ormsbee's research program has helped generate external contracts from such agencies as the National Science Foundation,
NOAA, the U.S. Geological Survey, the U.S. Army, the U.S. Department of Energy, the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
The award was presented during of the EWRI 2010 World Water and Environmental Resources Congress on May 17 in Providence, Rhode Island.
