I am a member of the Tomahawk Freewill Baptist Church. I began attending the church on a regular basis in 2005 and I began teaching Sunday school there in 2010. I am a devout Christian and serving Jesus comes first in my life no matter what. Leaving my church family was the hardest party of my transition from high school to college, hands down.
I went to Sheldon Clark High School where I was very active. I was the president of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes for 3 years and a member since 6th grade. I was the student leader for the Year Book for 3 years. I played volleyball for 3 years. I was involved in Key Club, UNITE, Academic Team, Future Problem Solvers, and the Sheldon Clark High Schools’ Relay for Life team. I was valedictorian of my graduating class with over a 4.0 GPA.
Currently I am a student at the University Of Kentucky. I try to do my very best in all that I do. As of now I have a 4.0 GPA. I spend a lot of time in class or studying, but I still find time to volunteer around campus and go to as many events as possible. I decided when I went to college that I would try to attend many different churches around Lexington in order to verify my beliefs and gain cultural experience. It has been a very interesting journey and I do believe that I have accomplished my goal of verification. So although I have had many changes in my life in my transition from high school to college I feel I have been able to adapt effectively.
To me the Robinson Scholarship means freedom and opportunity. The scholarship has fully provided me a way out of manual labor and minimum wage jobs. For all this and so much more I'll be forever grateful to the scholarship.
