Jason Mraz

The end of the spring semester is quickly approaching and anticipation for a much-deserved summer break is on students' mind. SAB is spreading the summer vibe a little early with the much anticipated annual end-of-the-year concert featuring Grammy Nominated Jason Mraz. UK students will be filling up Memorial Coliseum for the sold-out Jason Mraz concert on April 26 at 8 p.m. This is the 3rd annual end of the year concert sponsored by the Student Activities Board, which is growing to be one of students' favorite UK traditions.

Homecoming

Christian Siriano

With the dozens of events that the Student Activities Board brings to UK's campus each semester, students have a lot to choose from. This spring, the event that caught almost everyone's attention was the speaker, Christian Siriano. Hundreds of students lined up and packed Memorial Hall to come see this "fierce" designer. Few events were held this semester on-campus which produced the buzz and excitement of Christian Siriano.

Little Kentucky Derby

Tradition: it's all the little things we look forward to year after year that give us a sense of pride in our home state; it's the events that continually bring us together as a reminder of our unified heritage and legacies; it's what makes us proud to be from Kentucky. One of many traditions celebrated annually across the bluegrass is the Kentucky Derby. Horse racing in Kentucky dates back to 1783. It's a sport rich in pride, heritage and tradition, and no other venue in the world pays tribute to the glory, status and spectacle of Thoroughbred racing quite like Churchill Downs.

SAB Feature

This past year was full of innovation and change for the Student Activities Board (SAB). From re-structuring the organization to giving it a whole new look, SAB has made many changes to improve the organization and to better serve all UK students and the Lexington community. We strive to bring the best events to campus to enrich the lives of UK students, providing them with opportunities that they would not have outside of UK.

What SAB has meant to me

Throughout my involvement at the University of Kentucky I have been involved in many different areas of campus, including Greek Life, Leadership Development and Student Involvement. But in all of this involvement one organization stands out as having the biggest effect on my life.

Collaboration in the Spotlight:UK Public Relations & Marketing

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 1, 2009) - This semester has been one of change and progress for the Student Activities Board as they took on a new look, brand and overall structure. Transition can be difficult and sometimes slow down the development process, but with the help of the amazing people in UK's PR/Marketing department, SAB has been progressive and productive this semester. As a board, we look forward to working with them and many other groups in the years to come. Working as a team and collaborating with people in different departments benefits everyone. We are given the opportunity to share ideas, learn from one another and grow as an organization.
