Homecoming 2009: Preview
"Viva Lex Vegas"
As the 2008-2009 school year draws to a close, it is hard to believe that Homecoming 2009 is right around the corner. SAB's Homecoming committee is excited to announce a fun, unique theme for next year's Homecoming festivities. "Viva Lex Vegas" will feature many Vegas-style promotional materials, themed t-shirts for everyone to purchase, and activities based around our theme. We hope this theme will get everyone excited to be here in "Lex Vegas" during Homecoming week! Next year's events will include some of traditional events as well as some new sure to be favorites.
SAB is excited to bring back the annual Homecoming pep rally to get students, faculty, alumni, and the community excited about the big game The pep rally will be jam-packed with entertainment and fun activities for all Wildcat fans. . Mark your calendars now- the pep rally is Friday, October 30th...we want to see you in your Blue and White gear!
This year, our parade will be the morning of game day. Our hope is that alumni, UK and the Lexington community alike will attend and get fired up for the big game! This change will also allow for more student organization to participate and give a really special feel to Homecoming Game Day on-campus!
Lastly, we are excited to announce the host for Big Blue Impromptu, comedian and MTV Road Rules alum Theo Von! Theo has been featured on NBC's Last Comic Standing and Reality Bites Back and will be perfect to host this year's Big Blue Impromptu! October 24th: Paint the Town Blue Painting Begins
October 25th: Banner Debut; 5K Walk/Run to benefit Dance Blue
October 26th: Canstructure and the opening of the Homecoming Gallery Exhibit
October 27th: Kitty Karnival
October 28th: Big Blue Impromptu
October 30th: Blue Man Group Competition and Pep Rally
October 31st: Parade and Mr. and Ms. UK Crowning at Halftime
When you move out of Lexington or into a new residence farther away from campus dont just take your bed spread, computer and corn hole set. Don't forget to bring all of those retreat binders and meeting minutes from your dedicated time in the student organization of your choice. All of those skills and experiences you had while getting involved on campus can be more valuable than you think and here are some tips on how to capitalize on those skills once you begin (or continue) your job search.
