Jason Mraz

The end of the spring semester is quickly approaching and anticipation for a much-deserved summer break is on students' mind. SAB is spreading the summer vibe a little early with the much anticipated annual end-of-the-year concert featuring Grammy Nominated Jason Mraz. UK students will be filling up Memorial Coliseum for the sold-out Jason Mraz concert on April 26 at 8 p.m. This is the 3rd annual end of the year concert sponsored by the Student Activities Board, which is growing to be one of students' favorite UK traditions.
Tickets went on sale February 9th and were completely sold out within two weeks! Students lined up bright and early on the 9th for tickets. The Student Activities Board could not be more excited with the buzz around campus about the concert and the abundance of students attending the concert.
Jason Mraz has toured around the world performing his inspiring songs full of clever and witty lyrics. As a musician from Mechanicsville, Virginia, Mraz incorporates many different genres of music, including everything from reggae and folk to rock and hip-hop, to create his unique sound.
Under the Atlantic Records recording label, Mraz has created three studio albums including "Waiting for My Rocket to Come" released in 2002, "Mr. A-Z" released in 2005, and "We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things," released in 2008. In 2004, Mraz won the College Music Award for Best Male Artist. His current release "We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things," debuted at #3 on the U.S. Billboard charts and features popular singles such as "Lucky" with singer-songwriter Colbie Caillat and "IF'm Yours." Mraz and his hit single "I'm Yours" was a 2009 Grammy Award Nominee for Song of the Year and Mraz himself was nominated for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.
Opening for Jason Mraz will be Anya Marina, a talented singer-songwriter who grew up in California. Her new album, "Slow & Steady Seduction: Phase II" is similar to Mraz's recent release; Marina uses sly, humorous lyrics but she also has an intimate and chill-rock vibe. Check out her MySpace page to hear some of her songs, including "Miss Halfway," which appeared on an episode of Grey's Anatomy.

SAB expects an amazing performance from Jason Mraz and is thrilled to bring a Grammy-Nominated artist to campus for our fellow UK students. Keep a look out for more great shows hosted by SAB. We're planning for a great Fall semester!
When you move out of Lexington or into a new residence farther away from campus dont just take your bed spread, computer and corn hole set. Don't forget to bring all of those retreat binders and meeting minutes from your dedicated time in the student organization of your choice. All of those skills and experiences you had while getting involved on campus can be more valuable than you think and here are some tips on how to capitalize on those skills once you begin (or continue) your job search.
