campus life The Campus Life Committee plans some of the largest and most exciting events for UK students. Interactive game shows, the Massage-on-the-Go series and Speed Dating are some past events hosted by this committee. Campus Life is responsible for Student Center Spectacular and Campus Ruckus, two huge events during K-Week. A crucial part of maintaining student spirit, Campus Life is the center of fun and entertainment at the university. Kicking off the year with Student Center Spectacular and Campus Ruckus, this committee hosts several interactive events throughout the year to maintain school spirit and provide students with the ultimate campus experience.
cinema The Cinema Committee offers students a chance to see the latest Blockbuster hits before they are released on DVD as part of the "Cheap Seats" movie series. Hosting student film competitions and free sneak-peak movies before they hit theaters, this committee brings the best in cinema to UK’s campus. The Cinema Committee is your go-to for all things movies, including the popular “Cheap Seats”series where you see the latest Blockbuster hit for just $1!
concerts Bringing both chart topping and up-and-coming artists to UK’s campus, the Concert Committee hosts a variety of musical performances. Past concerts include O.A.R., Jason Mraz, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Story of the Year, Lil Wayne, Kate Voegele, Pearl Jam and REM. The Concert Committee brings both chart topping and up-and-coming artists to UK’s campus, including everyone from Jason Mraz to Lil Wayne.
cultural arts Art exhibits, photography competitions, spoken word poetry, and any other art forms that enrich the campus community are under the spectrum of the Cultural Arts Committee. Past events include presentations by PostSecret author Frank Warren as well as Bravo’s Project Runway winner, Christian Siriano. The Art of the Brick Lego Exhibition is one of many art exhibits to be featured in the Rasdall Gallery in the Student Center throughout the years. From Photography competitions to Bravo’s Project Runway winner Christian Siriano, the Cultural Arts Committee hosts a variety of artsy events throughout the year.
engaging issues No topic is too controversial for the Engaging Issues Committee. Past events have included topics regarding religion, sex, politics, war, drugs, civil rights and more. This committee brings best-selling authors, experts, activists, educators and everyday people to open up an unknown world of information. Past events have included The Final Word lecture series and guest speaker Morgan Spurlock, who wrote and directed the acclaimed documentary "Supersize Me.” Religion. Sex. Politics. War. Drugs. Nothing is too taboo for the Engaging Issues Committee. This committee brings best-selling authors, experts, activists, educators and everyday people to open up an unknown world of information.
multicultural affairs Promoting cultural awareness ,diversity, and inclusive communities arethe ultimate goals of the Multicultural Affairs Committee. Through performances, lectures, and open discussions, this committee helps to unite campus. Previous events include the Diversity Dialogues discussion series and the performance troupe Step Africa. pop culture Comedy, fashion, and TV are just a few of the many topics covered by the Pop Culture committee. From spotlighting the most humorous comedians in the Laughs on the Lawn comedy series to hosting UK’s version of Project Runway in the Project Catwalk competition, this committee works hard to bring the best of pop culture trends to campus. The Laughs on the Lawn comedy series and the Project Catwalk fashion competition are just a sample of the past programs the Pop Culture Committee has brought to campus. traditions The Traditions Committee brings to life the annual UK Homecoming Celebration. The week’s events include the banner and float competitions, 5K walk/run, philanthropic events, and the annual Homecoming game with theMr. and Ms. UK celebration. Packed full of Wildcat pride and UK spirit, the Traditions Committee is also tasked with planning the annualLittle Kentucky Derby Festival in the spring. promotions team Consisting of the Vice President ofPromotions, Director for Graphic Design, Director for Web Design, Director for Public Relations, and the Assistant Director for Graphic Design, this team is responsible for developing promotional materials, overseeing brand management efforts, and coordinating marketing projects for SAB.
executive board Comprised of the President, the Vice President of Internal Affairs, and the Vice President of Promotions, the executive team is responsible for the overall management of the Student Activities Board, both in terms of daily operations and long-term planning.
