The Singletary Center for the Arts continues its commitment to a 30 year community tradition of presenting world-acclaimed artists through its own series which presents and stages concerts by renowned musicians, dancers, and ensembles from every corner of the globe.

The band's fifth album, The Hazards of Love, represents the most glorious kind of messing around. It's the most ambitious and most accomplished project to date from the Portland-based quintet of Meloy, Chris Funk, Jenny Conlee, Nate Query,and John Moen-a full-length song cycle rooted in ancient language and imagery, yet entirely modern and accessible. The follow-up to the group's 2006 breakthrough, The Crane Wife (which NPR listeners voted their favorite album of the year), The Hazards of Love solidifies the Decemberists' standing as one of the most innovative and important creative forces in music today.

Ronan is truly a modern day "Renaissance Man." Facedwith numerous challenges throughout his well documented life, he has persevered with enormous passion and determination. He attributes his success to his faith and the knowledge that the Man Above guides him through every door he opens. Introduced to international audiences as a member of the Irish Tenors, Tynan quickly became known for his unique voice and irresistible appeal. Following his mother's advice to always follow your dreams, Tynan decided to launch a solo career, and has achieved the fame and adoration that could have existed only in the farthest reaches of his dreams.

The Virsky Ukrainian Dance Company:

The renowned folk dance ensemble names after Pavlo Virsky is famous for its bright colors,
the unity of
content and form and the vivid embodiment of its stage concept. The ensemble's diverse concert programs presenting the exquisite charm of Ukrainian folk dancing and the wealth of its traditions have been warmly received by audiences all over the world.

Jean-Luc Ponty:

Ponty is a French virtuoso voilinist and jazz composer. At sixteen, he was admitted to the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Paris, graduating two years later with the institution's
highest award, Premier Prix.
A growing interest in the
jazz sounds of Miles Davis
and John Coltrane compelled him to take up the tenor saxophone. Fueled by an all-encompassing creative passion, Jean-Luc soon felt the need to express his jazz voice through his main instrument, the violin. For the next decade, Jean-Luc toured the world repeatedly and recorded 12 consecutive albums which all reached the Top 5 on the Billboard jazz charts and sold millions of copies.

Joe Lovano: January 30
A post bop, jazz saxophonist, alto clarinetist, flautist, and drummer, Lovano has
been one of the world's premiere tenor saxophone players, earning a Grammy award and several nods
on Down Beat
magazine's critics' and readers' polls. A jazz
artist on the international level, his live work, "Quartets", garnered the "Jazz Album of the Year" award. Sponsored by the Martin Luther King, Jr. Cultural Center.

Moscow State Radio Symphony: February 5
The renowned orchestra is dedicated to the symphonic repertoire of the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries and performs weekly for millions of Russians throughout its radio broadcast. The orchestra has performed i major venues throughout the world and garners the highest praise from classical music critics. Alexander Sinchuk (image right), First Prize Winner of the 2009 Rachmaninoff International Piano Competition, will be joining the Orchestra.

Sarah Chang, violin, with UK Symphony Orchestra: February 20
One of the most remarkable prodigies
of any generation, violinist Sarah
Chang has matured into a young artist whose musical insight, technical virtuosity, and emotional range
continue to astonish. She is a past recipient of the Avery Fisher Career Grant, Gramophone's "Young Artist of the Year" award, Germany's "Echo" Schallplattenpreis, "Newcomer of the
Year" honors at the International Classical Music Awards in London, and Korea's "Nan Pa" award. In 2006, she was named by Newsweek as one of
the Top Twenty Women on Leadership.

Swan Lake by Moscow Festival Ballet: March 6
Founded as a company which would bring together the highest classical elements of the great Bolshoi and Kirov Ballet companies, this group offers a full-length production of Tchaikovsky's classic designed especially for SCFA.

Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg with Lexington Philharmonic: April 17

UK HealthCare presents Nadja
Salerno-Sonnenberg, violin, with the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra as part of the Overture to Healing fundraiser. This event will be a fundraiser for the Lucille Caudill Little Performing Arts in HealthCare
Program. Gala sponsorship packages will be available that will include dancing and dinner at Memorial Hall.
