UK Account Manager


Student Computing Accounts:

Link Blue: Your Link-blue UserID and Password will allow you access the following student computer accounts.

For more information about a Link Blue account visit the Link Blue Account Manager web site.

Special Accounts: The following accounts are not associated with Link-Blue UserID and Password. You will need a special UserID and Password.

  • Systems Labs Macintoshes (For log-in authentication to Macintosh Computers)
  • Computer Science Workstation

Activating Your Link-Blue Account:

Upon acceptance as a student or hired as an employee, you will automatically be created an Link-Blue account. You will only need to activate your account (no account creation necessary) Activations process is as follows:

  • Go to the Link-Blue Account Manager web site (https://ukam.uky.edu/manager/).
  • Click on the Manage Your Account menu option.
  • Enter your user ID and default password where prompted.
  • You will now be guided through the Account Activation process:

Who Can Have an Link-Blue Account?

The following categories of users may have Link-Blue accounts:

  • University of Kentucky full-time and part-time students.
  • University of Kentucky faculty and staff members.

Users who do not fall into one of these categories but who perceive a need for an Link-Blue account must make their request to the Director for Information Support Services and/or the Vice President for Information Technology and Human Services.


Common Problems and Error Messages:

If have trouble logging into your Link-Blue account, write down the error message and see if it matches one of the following frequently encountered error messages. Very often you will be able to solve the problem yourself by following the advice listed below.

Windows Log-in Error Message: "The system could not log you on. Make sure your User name and Domain are correct, then type password must be typed using the correct case."

There are several possible causes for this error message:

  • You did not enter a domain before your UserID when logging into the system. Link-blue accounts can be either AD or MC domains. Please check to make sure you are entering the correct domain. Examples are: ad\jdpubl1 or mc\jdpubl1

  • You have entered the UserID incorrectly. Please try to re-enter your UserID.

  • You have entered the wrong password. Please try to re-enter the correct password. If you have forgotten your password, You can do one of the following:

    • Visit Link-Blue Manager page- https://ukam.uky.edu/manager/ Click on the "Reset An Forgotten Password" option. Enter ID. Then Answer your password self-reset questions. If you didn't setup your questions, proceed to next solution.

    • If you cannot remember your password and need it reset, you can do one of the following:

      Other things to check include:

      • Are you entering the letter "o" (oh) instead of the number "0" (zero)? Are you entering the letter "l" (el) instead of the number "1" (one)?
