When inclement weather occurs, the Manager
and Public Services Manager of Student Computing Services
will monitor weather conditions and inform employees at the labs
of any University schedule changes or closings. The Manager and
Public Services Manager of Student Computing Services will
track weather conditions by viewing announcements available through
View on UKCC and by monitoring weather reports made by local news
media and NOAA.
If Student Computing Services employees
are unsure as to whether or not to come to work, they should tune
into local radio or television stations and listen for any announcements
regarding the University of Kentucky. Additionally, the UK INFOLINE
at 257-5684 will have the latest information about University
schedule changes and closings.
If the University announces that it is on
a "Plan B" schedule and classes are in session, Young
Library Computer Lab will be open. Other labs
may or may not be open depending upon their location. Employees
of these labs will need to contact either persons working
at the lab or their lab manager to see what the plans
are for that day.
If the University announces that it is on
a "Plan B" schedule and classes are not in session,
then King Library and all branches, including the labs administered
by Student Computing Services, will be closed.
Employees and patrons should use their own judgment
if it looks as if it is unsafe to remain in the computer lab. For
example, the window areas of the Business and Economics Lab could potentially be unsafe during high winds.
