The Student Computing Services facilities and resources are maintained and/or expanded according to evolving student needs defined by the colleges and University administration.

This policy for SCS labs is founded in the tenet that hardware and basic software standardization enhances inter-usability of resources by students.

To ensure parity, new-lab planning includes a review of current industry standards for hardware, and duplication of the University's basic software portfolio currently provided in existing labs. Specialized software desired by a college and/or department can be added to an individual lab portfolio when funded by the college and/or department involved.
