Düsseldorf is an important banking and administrative center and as well as a center of iron and steel production. Numerous attractions abound, including the church of St Lambertus, a fourteenth-century brick building, is easily recognizable by its tall twisted spire, while a short walk to the east is the stuccoed St Andreas, mausoleum of the Electors Palatine - who were among the seven princes who elected the Holy Roman Emperor. The city's main thoroughfare,
the famously chic Königsallee with its elegant shopping arcades is
one of the world's most beautiful boulevards. And nearby reside beautiful
castles including the Benrath Palace and the Kaiserswerth.
